Jackets of these type were common among working class individuals before and during the war, and a number of civilians have been photographed wearing them. Likewise, similar jackets appear in several images of CS soldiers, from early, mid, and late war, and in every theater of the war as well! These work jackets were readily adapted for military use, and some soldiers even added brass buttons to dress them up.Our jacket is made of denim or cotton jeancloth (subject to what is available), lined in lightweight osnaberg, and comes with four wooden buttons. A single pocket is located conveniently on the outside of the jacket.
