These are Federal cartridge box slings converted into waist belts. Each one of these we make will vary in design as far as buckle attachment, style of buckle and how the end is cut off. This is a soldier modified item and the details will reflect that. Some will show slits from the breast plate, some will have rounded cuts and others will be jagged. These make for a great CS waist belt for those that want to get away from the norm. You can see some original examples of these belts in R. Stephen Dorsey's book American Military and Naval Belts, 1812-1902. We have left these belts at the regulation cartridge box strap width of 2.25" so depending on your cap pouch belt loops you may need to thin these belts down. This was most likely done originally, but we will leave that up to you.
