About

We started this company to produce correct, hand sewn leather goods and accoutrements as close to the originals as possible. We have spent years looking at originals and studying the regulations that coincide with this equipment. The following is a list of 'ingredients' we use that make up many of the components that go into reproducing mid 19th century leather goods:

Leather - Vegetable Tanned, Undyed, Usually from Hermann Oak

Leather Dye - Nutgall, Logwood, Iron Mordant, Water

Thread - Unboiled Irish Linen Thread, 4 Cord usually, but we hand twist 3 Cord thread for scabbard tubes and rifle slings

Kit - Beeswax, Rosin, Pitch (Kit is applied to the thread, it heats up as the threads are run against each other to act as a 'cement')

Needles - Generally we use Osborn Egg-Eye Harness Needles, but from time to time we aquire a small cache of original drilled eye harness needles that we use

In addition to our own leather goods, we carry other fine products by skilled craftsmen who, in our opinion, make top of the line items that are sure to please even the most discerning re-enactor, historian, etc.

Please keep in mind this is a part time endeavor for us. Unfortunately, we must work full time jobs in addition to this hobby. This factor plus the amount of time it takes to reproduce these items correctly equals a waiting period.... sometimes a long waiting period. We are currently taking orders on most of the leather goods we produce, but please expect to wait anywhere from 2-8 months depending on our workload. We do not take kindly to rude emails about how long you have waited for your item. If we have taken an order, we will complete it. If you need something in a hurry and we are unable to accomodate your request, we can recommend you to top-notch suppliers that may be able to help you.
